Awards
Dissertation Award CAERDA provides a Dissertation Award for Chinese and Chinese Americans who have completed a quality dissertation on education or anyone who has completed a quality dissertation related to the education and teaching of Chinese all over the world.
Eligibility: CAERDA members or applicants who are nominated by at least one CAERDA member are eligible. The eligibility date of completing the dissertation is traced back 3 years from the award date, which is the first day of the CAERDA Annual Conference where the award is present.
Award: One award will be granted at our annual conference. The recipient will receive a plaque commemorating the award with a 1-year complimentary membership and conference registration for 2025, and a $500 scholarship.

. Distinguished Scholarly Book Award CAERDA invites nominations for the 2025 CAERDA Distinguished Scholarly Book Award. The purposes of this award are twofold: (1) to encourage high quality research in Chinese and Asian community context;(2) to facilitate the cross culture understanding of education in Chinese and Asian community.
Eligibility: Participants who present at the 2025 CAERDA conference are eligible to apply for the awards. However, only applicants who meet the following criteria will be considered for the award:
- The research study represents the applicant’s intellectual work. If with multiple authors, the applicant must demonstrate a major contribution (e.g., lead author) to the work.
- The submitted book must not be in press at the time of the submission nor have been published prior to the submission for the award.
- The PDF version of the book needs to be submitted.
- The submitted book may be written either in English (the Times New Roman font is preferred) or Chinese and follow the sixth edition guidelines of APA Publication Manual or any other major publication style.
- The applicant has a valid CAERDA membership and has pre-registered for the conference at the time of nomination.
Additional Eligibility Considerations:
- Award committee members are not eligible for the award nomination.
- Previous award recipient is not eligible to re-apply for the award within 2 years. For example, if you were a Distinguished Paper book recipient in 2020, you are not eligible to apply in 2021 and 2022. You will be eligible to apply for the award in 2025.
Award: One award will be granted at the annual conference. The award recipient will receive (1) a plaque commemorating the award, (2) a 1-year complimentary membership and conference registration for 2025, and (3) a $500 scholarship.

. Distinguished Paper Award CAERDA invites nominations for the 2025 CAERDA Distinguished Paper Award. The purposes of this award are twofold: (1) to encourage researchers to submit a high-quality research paper and present it in a clear, concise, and compelling manner at the CAERDA’s conference; and (2) to recognize high-quality research across multiple research methodologies conducted by educators and researchers.
Eligibility: Participants who present at the 2025 CAERDA conference are eligible to apply for the awards. However, only applicants who meet the following criteria will be considered for the award:
- The research study represents the applicant’s intellectual work. If with multiple authors, the applicant must demonstrate a major contribution (e.g., lead author) to the work.
- The submitted paper must not be in press at the time of the submission nor have been published prior to the submission for the award.
- The submitted paper must not exceed 30 double-spaced pages in 12-pt font size with 1-inch margin at all sides, including title page, tables, figures, and references.
- The submitted paper may be written either in English (the Times New Roman font is preferred) or Chinese and follow the sixth edition guidelines of APA Publication Manual or any other major publication style.
- The applicant has a valid CAERDA membership and has pre-registered for the conference at the time of nomination.
- The applicant’s paper proposal has been accepted for presentation at the 2025 CAERDA conference. Applicant who is selected for the award but fails to present in person at the conference will lose his or her eligibility and the intended award will be revoked.

. Student Paper Award CAERDA invites current students to submit an application for the 2025 CAERDA Student Paper Award. The purposes of this award are twofold: (1) to encourage students to submit a well-written research paper and present it in a clear and concise manner at the CAERDA's conference; and (2) to recognize promising research using different research methodologies conducted by student researchers.
Eligibility: student members who present at the 2025 CAERDA conference are eligible to apply for the award. However, only applicants who meet the following criteria will be considered for the awards:
- The research study represents the student’s intellectual work.
- The submitted paper must not be in press at the time of the submission nor have been published prior to the submission for the award.
- The submitted paper must not exceed 30 double-spaced pages in 12-pt font size with 1-inch margin at all sides, including title page, tables, figures, and references.
- The submitted paper may be written either in English (the Times New Roman font is preferred) or Chinese and follow the APA style (6th ed.) or any other major publication style.
- The applicant has a valid CAERDA student membership and has pre-registered for the conference at the time of nomination.
- The applicant’s paper proposal has been accepted for presentation at the 2025 CAERDA conference. Applicant who is selected for the award but fails to present in person at the conference will lose his or her eligibility and the intended award will be revoked.
Additional eligibility considerations:
- Previous award recipient is not eligible to re-apply for the award within 2 years of receipt. For example, if you were a student paper award recipient in 2020, you are not eligible to apply in 2021 and 2022 for the same award. You will be eligible to apply for the award in 2025.
Awards: One award will be granted at the annual conference. An award in a specific category may not be granted if the evaluation criteria are not met. The award recipient will receive (1) a certificate of the student paper award, (2) recognition of the award paper at the conference, and (3) a $300 scholarship.

Student Travel Award CAERDA invites current students to submit an application for the 2025 CAERDA Student Travel Award. This award is intended to assist students attending CAERDA's annual conference. Up to two students may be awarded. CAEDRA will award each student recipient up to $300 to cover costs incurred to attend the CAERDA annual conference. Student members can apply for this travel award if their proposals are accepted.
Eligibility: student members who present at the 2025 CAERDA conference are eligible to apply for the award.
Submitting Your Applications:
- Include a brief cover letter (no more than two pages, single spaced), including current contact information of the applicant (name, affiliation, address, telephone number, Email address), research interests, career plans, and a short justification of the need for financial assistance to attend the meeting.
- One recommendation letter is required.
- The cover letter must be submitted as attachment (WORD or PDF file).
